Step-by-Step: Enable Languages
1. Open Language Settings
- Go to Settings → Essentials
- Scroll to Supported Languages
2. Select Languages
- ✅ Checked = Language is available to guests
- ⬜ Unchecked = Language is hidden
- English is always required and stays enabled
Click the checkbox next to each language you want to offer.
✓ You should see a checkmark next to every enabled language.
3. Choose the Default Language
- Find Default Language under the language checkboxes.
- Open the dropdown.
- Select the language guests should see first.
✓ The dropdown shows only enabled languages. ✓ If you disable the current default, AVA switches the default to English.
After you save, AVA keeps the selected default language on reload. It also keeps that choice when another settings page saves supported languages. If it changes later, check that you are editing the right hotel.
4. Save Changes
Click Save Languages and wait for the confirmation message.
✓ You should see "Settings saved successfully".
What Happens After You Enable a Language
- Language appears in the guest check-in selector
- Your Default Language appears first on the guest flow
- Screens translate automatically
- Error messages show in the selected language
- Emails send in the guest's chosen language
- Documents generate in that language
- Room-card messages also follow the selected language when you save regional codes like
ko-KR.
How Guests Choose Their Language
| Location | How to Switch |
|---|---|
| Check-in kiosk | Language button on the welcome screen |
| Mobile check-in | Flag icon at the top of the page |
| During check-in | Switch anytime |
The system remembers each guest's preference.

Staff Readiness
Before enabling a language, confirm:
- At least one staff member can assist in that language
- You can support guest questions
- Important notices are translated
Common Configurations
